Lisa Nicole Gunn returned to practice law in her hometown of St. Thomas in January of 2006. Her practice focuses on litigation – both civil and criminal.
Growing up on a farm just outside St. Thomas, Lisa attended Southwold-Lynhurst Public School and then Central Elgin Collegiate Institute, graduating as an Ontario Scholar in 1989. Lisa graduated from the University of Western Ontario with her B.A. (Hons) in History and English in June of 1993. In June of 1996, Lisa received her LL.B. from the University of Windsor. While at the University of Windsor, she was the recipient of the Bereskin & Parr Prize in Industrial and Intellectual Property.
Following her graduation from law school, Lisa completed her articles and the Bar Admission Course in Toronto. She was called to the Bar in February of 1998 and continued to practice law in Toronto until March of 2000 when she joined the London, Ontario office of one of Canada’s national law firms as a litigation associate.
In February of 2005, Lisa accepted an opportunity to join the Crown Attorney’s Office for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent where she acted as an Assistant Crown Attorney until joining Gunn & Associates in January of 2006. Following her departure from the Crown Attorney’s Office, Lisa continued to act on an occasional basis as a Per Diem Crown Attorney for both the Municipality of Chatham-Kent as well as the County of Elgin.
Lisa has appeared as lead counsel on numerous motions, trials, appeals and other hearings before various courts and tribunals including the Provincial Offences Court, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Liquor Licence Tribunal and the Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission.
Lisa has been the President of the Elgin Law Association since the fall of 2008. She is also a member of the Advocates’ Society.
